Well, after dealing with at least half a dozen other techs before finding him on Yelp, I can tell you with great confidence that he is absolutely right! We've been having trouble with our CalSpas swim spa for as long as we've owned it. Never been able to figure out how to make it work for more than a month or two. Within minutes (seconds, actually) Mike figured out our first issue and told me to test it out for a while to see if there were any underlying problems. There were, so he came back out the next day and, again, within minutes, could tell by the sound my spa was making what the problem was. Fixed that too. I have never written a review online, but I’ve also never had the unbelievable customer service offered by Classic Spa Service and the most incredible hot tub man– Michael Durand. My first contact with Mike was because the heater on my hot tub had stopped working. I drink my coffee every morning in my hot tub – so not having it working was screwing my morning routine up big time. I called and left him a message. He called me back in 2.5 minutes, had me send him a picture of the heater and promptly told me where the reset button was. I hit the button and my heater was working again. The charge? Not a dime. My next encounter with Mike was even more mind blowing. A friend was watching a 7 million dollar mansion and had a handful of us over for dinner and hot tubbing. After we finished dinner, we went to get in the hot tub and it still wasn’t hot. I thought I should call Mike, he knows everything there is to know about hot tubs, but it was Saturday night on Saint Patrick’s day, so I figured he wouldn’t answer. Jan.5,2009 -I contacted Mike January 2nd on recommendation from the business where I buy my spa chemicals. My heater was not working. Setting up the appointment via the website was fast and easy. Mike not only was on time for the appointment but was actually early. August 19, 2008 We have owned a spa, or hot tub since 1978. Chris Manning built and installed our first redwood “Hot Tub” which we enjoyed for many years. We met Mike Durand shortly afterwards who became our service provider. Many years of enjoyment went by and in 1999 “Dimension One” installed our first fiberglas spa. Unfortunately Mike Durand had gone abroad to provide service to the Scandinavian spa lovers. Eight years went by before our first real need for spa service. Our spa problem was water leakage. We asked assistance from a local spa center and “stop leak” was recommended by Dimension One. It worked and the leak stopped, but only briefly. Another suggestion was to set the spa on its side to check for leaks underneath the spa. After checking the various spa service shops without any solution, the name Mike Durand came up and yes, Mike had returned from abroad. We immediately called Mike and he returned our call right away. He called and came by our home to assess the problem and possible solution. We learned from others in the trade that Mike knows secrets and methods of how to repair a spa unlike other service providers. You must see to believe his expertise. Our leakage problem was solved in one day. Not one leak mind you, but three. Mike also checked other equipment and their operation and found that the ozone system was not functioning properly and he explained why. This was also fixed. Mike Durand is the absolute best and most honest spa repair and service person in all of Southern California today – just as he was also back in 1978, thirty years ago! I should know, my Company, Sequoia Spa, hired and trained him at 19 years old, more than thirty-three (33) years ago! By the time the Wall Street Journal credited my Company for selling 10% of all hottubs in the US (in its March 2, 1978, front page article), it had grown to 5 retail locations with 5 crews working full time to install all the redwood hottubs and spas we could sell. While I hired and tried to use a number of other spa repair technicians back then due to my Company’s size, Mike Durand was the only repair technician the Company could depend upon to fix and/or complete our most problematic installations. Everyone in the Company was amazed at how Mike would not only fix every job we sent him out on, but ALL the customers loved him afterwards. Frankly, none of us understood how he did it! But, the fact remains – Mike did it. Today, I would not consider using anyone else to service, repair, and even replace my own backyard spa. Even if Mike were to increase his hourly rate to $300 an hour, I know he would be cheaper in the long run than anyone else – because he would do it right the first time – and quickly. (He even solved my spa leak problem a year ago caused by rats eating the plumbing hoses around the spa under my wood deck. Mike and I checked last week, and the rats have definitely departed!) Knowledgeable people like myself have too much experience to try to save money when hiring a computer software technician, a brain, back or eye surgeon, or a spa repair technician. We know better! Attempting to use someone less than THE BEST only results in headaches and more cost. Save yourself some pain and money, rely on Mike – you won’t regret it!

My hat’s off to Mike Durand for building a fantastic ‘Custom’ spa that meets the individual needs of my family members. I decided to replace my in-ground 20-year-old spa after it broke again. The old spa just didn’t meet the needs of my wife, who has arthritis and prefers a mild force from the jets, nor myself, who has neck and back aches from too many sports injuries and job stress and prefers a strong force from the jets. Also, the old spa was at ground level and my wife was having problems getting in and out of the spa. I gave these requirements to Mike and he delivered. Mike removed the old spa and put in a Classic Spa 3 shell. He placed the shell at 18” above ground level (chair height) to make access easy for my wife, and integrated the new spa with the old spa’s brick work and surrounding deck. He installed two-way motors, flexible jets and water switches that allow the spa to be configured for soft, mild or strong jet forces. The result is a killer spa. My wife and I love it. Mike is very attentive to doing the job right. He follows up regularly and makes sure that you are completely satisfied with the spa. Thanks again, Mike.

I called Mike on March 16, 2007 and he was out of town and he told me that when he return he will call me, on March 19 Th he called me and set up and appointment for the next day and he came by and was very straight about my spa and what it needed and the price, and Mike told me that he would order all the parts and every thing he need and he would be at my home on Friday, March 23, 2007.
